It'll never be less than or equal to the M.

Why? Because reflex cameras will always have a short delay while the 
mirror goes up and the diaphragm closes down.

With SLRs, you'll never see the flash go off and never be sure that 
Mom didn't close her eyes.* That's the nice advantage of rangefinders.
