Jack,
While I was working on my MFA at ASU, I used Edwal FG-7 on the Tri-X.  This 
was back in the mid-seventies and I got excellent results.  I used to make 16 x 
20 prints from 35mm with very little grain.  Just keep a close eye on your 
developing temps.
