Frank,
The sample I had in my hands worked with a Pentax 645 150-300 zoom just
fine. I suspect that it will be just like the R-EOS situation: aperture
priority and manual focus.

Hi, Don,

I'm on the Pentax Discuss Mail List (pdml), and the reviews of their
dslr
have been mixed - except those who've actually handled one. All of the
latter, love it. Impressions are similar to yours.

One thing though, it may be that not all Pentax lenses will work with
the
*ist D. Some may only work at max aperture - at least the pre-A lenses
(those with a mechanical connection only - no electrical contacts). I
~could~ be wrong, because I've been mostly ignoring the digital threads
on
pdml, not giving a rat's you-know-what about a body that I won't be able
to
afford for a while. But anyone who really cares about backwards
compatibility may want to check into it.

regards,
frank
