Hardly, Doug - Kodak is already seriously involved in digital technology
- - developing sensors, manufacturing cameras, etc. etc. Leica has been
game playing, hoping digital would go away, and hedging their bets by
promising to develop the back for the Rs....It really is quite
different.

There are some interesting parallels between this pre-announcement and
Leica's pre-announcement of the digital R back - not that they are
related, but what I see is a form of panic in the companies that are
behind the leading edge in the fast-developing digital capture arena. I
think the motives behind Leica's pre-announcement and this Kodak
pre-announcement are quite similar.
