Now THAT is a bird! Great shot, David, and damn steady hands you have.
Is - and this is a question, NOT a criticism - the marked vignetting due
to the telextender?

Subject: [Leica] First efforts with the 400/f6.8 Telyt

As many of you know, it was my long standing admiration for the work of
Doug Herr that got me thinking about 400/f.6.8 Telyt. Then my wife,
Rose,
offered to buy me one for Christmas! :)

By late January, I had an early model, in virtually mint shape, in my
hands.... but no chance to really try it out until last week. Whilst
walking on the beach on Hornby Island, I spotted a Great Blue Heron,
standing on a log, about 30 meters (100 feet) ahead.

Using patience and stealth, I got within 20'. The result, a hand-held
shot
using the 400 and a 2x converter, can be seen by going
to: http://www.horizon.bc.ca/~dnr and then clicking on "Featured
Photo".

Comments and criticisms appreciated, as always.

Thanks for looking.

David.
