Subject: [Leica] Leica-sighting in Chicago

I don't see too many Leicas around here either.  I usually carry a IIIc 
with collapsible Elmar and it gets noticed a lot.  One day last week three 
different strangers wanted to talk about it, and one had a new Sony 828 
digicam around his neck.  Best was a young French woman in a jewelry store 
who blurted out "Ooh, is that a Leica?   My eyes went straight to it when 
you walked in.  So beautiful -- like an old Porsche, non?"  I blushed and 
confessed that I also used to have an old Porsche.  She said "You 
look  like the kind of guy who would have an old Porsche."

I realize now that she was just telling me how *old* I looked, but what a 
charming way of saying it!

Quel dommage, mais c'est la vie ...
