At the time, my father had just retired from 20-years active duty in the
Air Force (at the time = when my year came up for the draft lottery).

I won the lottery (got number 271 ... I wonder why I'll never forget
that). He never did say what he thought if I got a lower number. But you
should have seen his face beam the next time I met him. We both had
followed the bingo-lottery on the radio.

Anyway ... now I'm in Sweden anyway ... with a son in the danger zone if
they start up the draft again. At least I won't have to tell him where to
go :)
