Ignoring the little symbols, the D70 is a very capable camera. I 
haven't bought one yet (I'm letting others do the beta testing- Nikon 
has a way of getting electronics out a little early) but I have 
played with one extensively. It's clearly not anyone's dream camera ( 
the little symbols are pretty cheesy) but the picture quality and 
ease of use are really nice. Look at

For a good review. Page 20 has a chart comparing the D70 and D100 
with the Canon digital rebel. Of course, to keep all this on topic, 
you can't use Leica lenses on the D70......

My dealer has been told that he will not be getting any more D100's. 
He says that Nikon doesn't announce discontinuation of a product 
until the number of cameras already in dealer and distributor hands 
falls below a certain level, but apparently production on it has 
ceased.
