I like the semi-determined look on his face in the second photo.  It 
looks like he's trying to concentrate and stifle a grin simultaneously.

If not bait, does he use canned corn?  Not the creamed stuff but the 
niblets.  Works pretty good for me.  I scatter them around the water in 
an arch of about 6-8 feet.  It draws them into that area and some will 
bite the hook... their mistake.
