I picked up an Epson c84/c86 for $70 and loaded it with the MIS EZ
carbon inks as a dedicated B/W archival printer. It is terrific. I also
use the Epson 2200 with ImagePrint which allows things like 'split
toned' effects etc. There is also a free B/W driver for the Epson 2200
which only uses the black inks, so with a minimal amount of work, the
Epsons do great with B/W ... see
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/ if you want
to get an idea about what many people are using for digital B/W
printing.
