I cannot tell you the exact dates but IIRC even Popular Photography and the
late Modern Photography have published some examples.
And he did not print his negatives. French magazine Photo published a
special issue (May 1998) to honour his 90th birthday and on the page 107 his
printer Georges Fevre holds in his hand the famous negative "Derriere la
gare Saint-Lazare, Paris 1932" - the very definition of the decisive moment
and it appears that most - if not all - prints of this negative are cropped,
a large portion of foreground eliminated. Black border can be added easily. 
But this does not in any way diminish the value of this excellent image.
