I think scanners typically come with captive software from the
manufacturer. ?BUT, the only way to run them is with VueScan. ?This is the
most valuable and well-priced software I have ever bought.
In the case of both my Nikon Coolscan III and Epson something-flatbed,
Hamrick's software works better by factors.
It also comes with a raw processor that works well.

Since Vuescan software (hamrick.com) is available for Linux then any
scanner that runs under Vuescan will work with Linux.

Personally I have used the Minolta Scan Dual III that way.

I think that it is possible to run some scanners without Vuescan, but I
don't remember how that is done. ?The list is much less inclusive.

Since Linux is my favorite OS for my computer, does anybody know of a film
scanner that works with Linux?
