No. An army dentist (really). But I liked to play PJ in my free time.

To be honest, this was my first time scanning film. I used an Epson 3170
with the Epson software. Eyeball curves for each neg before scanning in
24-bit color at 1200 spi. Set scanner USM to "high". Scan. Save to
TIFF. Adjust curves, etc. in PS and remove dust and scratches with noise
filter (working in small areas). USM twice in PS: once at 15,40,2 to boost
local contrast and then again at 75, 0.5, 2 to sharpen grain. Then before
posting, downsize using Picasa in batch mode to 800pxls and default
compression (85%, whatever that means).

Also, a lot of these were shot with a 50mm DR Summicron. Could that
explain it? ;-)

If you see it again, let me know. Somebody would owe me some money
;-). Actually, it was published in 1968 in "The Delta Review," a southern
art and lifestyle magazine that went belly-up many years ago. "Delta" as
in Mississippi delta.

Just for a bit of historical interest, I didn't have a darkroom at the
time, so Bill (aka William) Eggleston let me use his darkroom to make the
prints for the mag essay. Back then he was just starting to use color and
still had a full BW darkroom at his house. Alas, he later became
famous. I never did ;-).
