I can do one better...back in 1986 I was standing with a crowd of people 
in a very dark spot south of Gainesville, FL, looking at Halley's Comet. 
People had binoculars, telescopes, tripods, long lenses etc. But one 
woman kept taking pictures with her P&S and flash. I felt like gently 
explaining to her that her flash was unlikely to reach an object many 
thousands of miles away, but I left her alone. I did blind the whole 
gang at one point by turning around and taking a picture of THEM with my 
flash.
