In the background is Fawsley Hall where Joseph Banks used to work. In the
foreground his headstone maintains a link to his past.
The inscription on his headstone reads:

"SACRED
TO THE MEMORY OF
JOSEPH BANKS
WHO LIVED
FOOTMAN AT FAWSLEY
THREE YEARS
AND DIED THERE
MUCH REGRETTED BY HIS
MASTER & MISTRESS
ON THE 9TH FEBRUARY
1845"

Contrast that with the fate of Richard Muscotts' headstone, presumably from
the nearby cemetery in Rothersthorpe, which is now a 'paving slab' to keep
mud levels down at a footpath stile.
