It's still the best US newspaper by a pretty wide margin. Wall Street
Journal isn't such a bad rag either.  I live in DC, and the Post is OK,
but no NYT.  Maybe the Christian Science Monitor for some stuff?

In most markets, no one's even *trying* to put together a credible
national/international coverage newspaper any longer. 

I guess all the potential readers can't read anymore and are tuning into
CNN or MSNBC or God knows.
