Mike,
We made the coastal run from Acadia to Boston last year.  I don't
think that Nova Scotia to Scranton is a doable one day run unless you
want to start a 6:00am and drive until almost midnight.

My suggestion would be to go down highway 1, taking enough time to see
what interests you until you hit Seabrook at which point I would start
west on I495.  Possibly book rooms at Hartford CN which is three hours
away from Scranton.

I don't know if this is a run that you have to make in three days or
if you can take four or five days to complete.  If you have the time,
then take the state highways, much better food, much more to see, and
the locals are glad to see you as opposed to seeing you as just
another tourist to fleece. :)
