Keeping that in mind is the only way to avoid the natural tendency to want to swerve, possibly killing both the deer and yourself. Chances are good that if you aim at staying in your lane, the deer will get out of the way. If not, that's the deer's tough luck, but not yours, your passengers or the innocent guy driving your way in the other lane!
