Simon,
While not necessarily true for you, as transportation costs increase, people
will make decisions on where to live and work with those costs in mind.  I
remember a cousin working on Wall Street purposefully buying a house in NJ
within two blocks of a rail line into Penn Station so that she would not
need a car for work.
