I use a rubber band sometimes.  Often it is the same subber band that
I use to prevent the shutter to trip when carrying a M camera that
has a soft-release.

I like the idea of a built-in shade very much, as there is no chance of
misplacing it.  I do wish though that Leica had the foresight to provide
a locking mechanism.
