Anyone contemplating a jump into Leica's reflex cameras owes it to
himself to check the pricing of the lenses before parting with any
money. There are numerous R lenses that can only be described as
"astounding" both in performance and in their ability to destroy bank
accounts. Many of the older lenses are more reasonable in both
respects but when you see what the 280 f/4 APO or 180 f/2.8 APO or 100
f/2.8 APO Macro looks like through an SL viewfinder one's cognitive
abilities approximate those of a toddler who's had his first taste of
chocolate and you soon find yourself in awe of the rich colors and
grain-defying detail of your chromes and you hardly notice the months
of eating nothing but outdated bread. It's a drug I tell ya, APOs and
SLs ought to be banned.
