Much more common at that time were advertisements 
showing a rather rotund, middle-aged gentleman 
using a Leica.  Ernst Leitz II and III and Ludwig 
Leitz all favored this as the style for the 
camera.  In the 1920's and 1930's, few women 
bought Leicas.  They were generally purchased by 
men, and the Leitz family wanted to preach to their audience.
