Scott,
Eizo's are very fine monitors indeed.  Really good.  Useful life is probably
best determined by the illumination bulb behind the LCD which are rather
expensive.  I would suggest in excess of five years of calibrated bliss.
After that go to a two monitor set up where the retired monitor gets to show
the tools in PS or the latest web video while the new monitor displays your
images.
