Hi Alastair,
Bryan Caldwell (who is visiting from California) and I visited Mr.
Chin at New Cameron Photo on Friday and asked about the availability
of the M 8. Mr. Chin had sold 3 pieces to Chinese customers for HK
$38,000 (US$4,885) - two of which had been returned - and Mr. Chin
suggested I wait until the issues about the M8 are resolved and the
Hong Kong price stabilizes. He couldn't give an exact price but
didn't deny my guesstimate of HK$33,000 (US$4,242) as being near what
the M8 will sell for in Hong Kong when available in quantities. So, I
will wait for awhile. Talking about the M8 magenta issue Bryan and I
went through all 340 pictures that I have shot with the two M8's that
I have been able to use in Vancouver and Wetzlar and we found two
pictures where black had a brownish red cast. I had not noticed it
before because, of course, I wasn't looking for it.
Cheers
Howard (in Hong Kong - where the weather is turning cooler and would
be perfect except for the air pollution) :-(
