Frank,

Regarding mechanical shutter and sensors.

The M8 sensor is a KODAK Full Frame CCD image sensor.

Here is what Kodak wrote about them:

'KODAK Full Frame CCD image sensors deliver high performance results.
With outstanding quantum efficiency across the visible spectrum,
these sensors are ideal for demanding imaging applications that can
accommodate a mechanical shutter or strobe illumination, such as
electronic still photography, medical X-ray, and inspection.'

And here is what Kodak wrote about Interline CCD image sensors (not
used in the M8):

'KODAK Interline CCD image sensors provide real time imaging for
still or motion capture where a mechanical shutter or strobe
illumination is either not required or desired.'
