The latest issue of MacWorld magazine compared Adobe Photoshop CS2
and CS3(beta) on Intel Macs and older Macs using G4 and G5
processors. Photoshop CS3 showed speed increases running on Intel
Macs compared to CS2 running on the same machines in the Rosetta
emulator. On Intel Macs CS3 ran about twice as fast as CS2. The speed
gains of CS3 on older Macs with G4 and G5 processors was
insignificant. Power Macs with quad G5 chips were actually faster
with CS2 than with CS3.

Conclusion: If you have an Intel Mac, CS3 is a worthwhile purchase.
If you have a G4 Powerbook or a G5 Power Mac, it's not worth the bother.
