Yeah, I've been seeing particularly weird Noctilux/M8 problems. I've
tried a series of close-ish focuus tests with all my lenses of interest,
and while the two Summiluxen I use most (35mm and 50mm ASPHs), do what's
expected and desired (focus where the rangefinder thinks it's focussing,
and just widen depth of field when stopping down), the Noctilux (which I
think has been working fine on the film bodies, but I haven't shot a
recent explicit testing roll) seems as sharp as it'll get (which isn't
so sharp compared to the other lenses) wide open, and actually -- this
is where it gets weird -- seems to shift its point of optimal focus to
the rear as it's stopped down.

My M8 is an early-production one, so it needs to go in for
de-green-ghosting; so I guess they'll have both camera and lens and be
able to try to marry them if it's possible (but one hopes it won't be an
exclusive marriage).

Oh, here's where it stays weird: I tried the same tests with another
(new-production, should it matter) M8 body, and observed the same
things. So it seems somehow to be an M8-Noctilux thing, rather than
something with my camera sample..

I have to find the images and look at them again, triple-check, but I
really think this is what I observed.

Did I say "weird"? I think I did.
