I don't worry about back focus or any kind of missed or misses focus. But the Noctilux is not an f1 and be there deal I found out with use. Its more a f 2000th a second and be there kind of deal. Using the widest f stop possible. In other words in a hell of a lot of situations you just have to stop down or you over expose at 2000th of a second. And I've used mine extensively at f16 and be there at high noon with the sun out and they looks great projected as big as your house with Leica glass at a LHSA meeting. Point being the lens is usable as a lens. One doesn't need to put ridiculous constraints on its use which would make it be; Unusable. Its usable. People use it every day. Some never take it off their cameras. I didn't take it off mine for a year seems like. A point could be made that not only would one have to only be using it at f1 but also only in very low light situations. Like night. Street lamps. Dark alleys. As that's what its optimized for. But the images it makes in other situations are quite valid. Like day time. I saw them. I've made them. And others do all the time.
