Hoppy

Ric has replied and I have answered him.

There were M3, M2, M1, M4, M5, M4P, M4-2, M6,
M6TTL, M7, and M8 Leica RF's and a number of
sub-variants. Only those made since 1986 --
perhaps 20% of the total? -- have an inbuilt
lightmeter. Most do not. Merely saying, "how do
I use a polarizing filter with an M camera" is,
again, like saying, "what type of lightbulb
should I use?" or "how high is up?" Ric has
identified his cameras as an M4, M6, and M7. It
would now be useful if he would identify the
lenses he is intending on using with the
polarizer as that can also have an effect on how he should use them.

Others on this List more regularly use polarizers
than do I and really ought to speak up.

Marc
