Mark:

Welcome, then - to the lower section of the Upper Left Hand Corner.

We lived on the west end of the Gorge on the Washington side
(Washougal) for several years. Spooky, truly cool spooky place.

In the winter, weather can turn on a dime. My wife and I loved it,
that it was so fierce, so unpredictable. Sustained 40 knot winds for
days at a time then dead calm for a week. (board surfers take
note...).

Somehow the current administration hasn't figured out how to drill for
oil there, yet. I suspect, based on feelings I got while in the Gorge,
that any damage to that amazing place would provoke some terrible karma
for the instigators.

Although it doesn't do much in the way of props for the R-70-180 APO,
here's a taste of what I one thanksgiving weekend:

Have a great trip. You're going into some truly magic country on your
sojourn up the coast.

I'm getting to the coast on highway 20 passing Clear Lake and Lake
Mendocino
and the Mendocino area which is one of my favorite areas in the US
world.
Competes in my book with the Columbia river Gorge and upstate new York
anywhere.

If the sun is shining boringly and I'm loving my car and my sun glasses
and
getting lots of shots I'll keep going to Fort Bragg on the ocean and go
up
highway 1.
If less enthused I'll hang a roscoe at Willits and go up wimpy 101.

If its raining and I don't love my car nor my sunglasses nor my camera
I'll
Take 5. Turn off my GPS and go into autopilot.

Dodo dodo dodo doot doot dooooo (Dave Brubeck in 5/4 time)

Spend one night at the Cal Ore Border. Make sure I have my passport.
