Nathan, both is not true. The DP1 has a hotshoe, see 
http://tinyurl.com/2rpvnu and produces 12-bit RAW files 
http://www.sigma-dp1.com/  (check "Recording System")

There was no hotshoe on the first protoypes pictures, but the absence of RAW 
shooting must have been a misunderstanding or a wrong rumour. 

Stays the slow lens as a minus point, though...
