Subject: [Leica] Dare I send 35/2 'Cron to Leica?

What is the group's experience on sending lenses to Leica NJ for coding
and adjustment to the M8? Particularly, the PRE-aspheric lenses like
1980s 35 and 50mm Summicrons?

I have a 35/2 Ver. IV Summicron that isn't quite right on the M8. It
needs coding eventually anyway. So I could send it to Leica and have them
do it all, send the mount to John Milich and then the whole lens to DAG,
or just have DAG adjust the lens and forget the coding for now.

With all the stories about lenses coming back from Leica with the same
misfocus problem (or worse), it's a little scary. But I'm not sure how
much of the problem is Leica USA and how much Solms, and whether there's a
better success rate with the classic lenses vs. the newer aspherics. And
there was talk on l-camera-user forum about some sort of new, more
accurate testing procedure being implemented for lens adjustments at some
point, as the old one was accurate enough for film, but not for the M8.

Any updates, insider knowledge or intelligently-crafted rumors?
