any G9 users out there yet?

Your impressions, thoughts...?

I've had the G9 since last Saturday, and have taken about 150 shots with it
so far. I traded my G7 in for it for the raw capture.

The camera is excellent. The lens is tack sharp, with some barrel distortion
at the wide end. Purple fringing is non existant. The IS is effective. Noise
is as expected from a small sensor 12 MP camera, though clearly better than
the G7. I use Lightroom for my noise reduction, which seems effective.
Sharpening is always better done with Photoshop, and the images come out of
the camera with the typical soft Canon look. Color rendition is better, to
my eyes, than my now departed 20D.

What I like best about the camera otherwise:

1. Built like a brick - all metal body.
2. No bulky handgrip which makes it easy to carry.
3. ISO setting dial, rather than having to use a menu.
4. Can use real flashes.

Battery life is good so far.

I carry the G9 (previosly the ergonomically similar G7) more than any other
camera as a walk-around. Not a substitute for my DSLRs, but very very good.

Dislike: Short neck strap with proprietary, undersized strap lugs.
