I don't remember much high school German, but this quote probably sums up
your interviews!
"Hier ist eine Familie mit ihrem Hund und ihrer Katze und ihren
B?cherregalen, die mir in ihrem Wohnzimmer erkl?rt, warum sie
Schusswaffen besitzt".

Even brought up on a diet of baby boomer war movies, you can translate the
sense of this.
Very broadly, I think. Here is a family with their dog and cat and book
shelves, sitting in their lounge room with their weapons.

Herr Doug might translate for us!

halten Sie, diese Kamera, es zu verwenden kommt lose

Panorama in Deutchland printed an interview with me an also an article
about my book -- shortened versions of both are on their web site:

http://www.sueddeutsche.de/panorama/artikel/68/140768/2/

http://jetzt.sueddeutsche.de/texte/anzeigen/404920

(If you don't already have multiple copies of it, you can get it from
amazon.de and amazon.com, of course.)

Hopefully I'm still witty in translation.....

Keep pushing that shutter button, it'll come unstuck,
