Clive, you wouldn't be the first to try to remove the original eyepiece from 
an M (also guilty when I got my first M6). That is the
method with any corrective eyepieces I have seen on my older SLRs in the 
past. Good thing you didn't take the pliers to your M8!
Now once you've tried it out, please let us know your experience using this 
magnifier on your camera. I had read in LFI that it is
of great benefit from the 50mm lenses upward.

I guess there are three types of people dumb, dumber, and M8 owners.

Of course it screws in. I was fixated on replacing the eyepiece.
