Among other things, Outlook saves its file ( not files, but file) in some obscure place. To tear the program down and re-install on another computer, or in this case, reinstall the OS, requires you to do this before teardown. I have tried this twice in the past year, and failed twice, pissing off my wife greatly because she lost some emails that were critical to her job. Now I know about Outlook, but what other programs have hidden data files you must find? It is way too scary. I usually just add/swap out my HDD for a bigger one, and thus never really get down to just an OS upgrade. Yes, with a fresh OS install, my computer ran faster. But I am not an IT professional like some on this and my other lists are. It would be nice to purchase a program that would actually get all backup files ready for a OS re-install.
