Subject: [Leica] Leica Oskar Barnack Award (LOBA)

I understand about student contests. It's to give students the
opportunity to compete on their own level.
On the other hand: it is a way to organise a competition without the
necessity of market standard prizes.
So sometimes it's a PR technique, too. Or -when reading most of the
copyright rules coming with these competitions, plain theft.

I assume that 'professionals only' is a way to set the bar. Not that
every amateur is amateuristic, far from that, but there are a lot of
hobbyists around, too.
The majority even.

From Leica though, it seems strange to only invite pros: how many of
them using a Leica are left?
And a lot of true amateurs using a Leica produce good work: a few of
these reside on our gallery.
