Hi Luis,

I only have the last, pre-asph Elmarit. It is an extremely fine lens  
and gives beautiful images at any aperture. But I suspect the new  
asph lens is fine as well. It is doubtful you will see any difference  
to the older lens unless you take photos of lens charts. It sounds to  
me you would like the newer lens for it's smaller filter size and  
compactness. I would not worry about buying either one.
