I recognize the problem and both you and I have probably drawn the
same conclusion. The user interface must be the most unfriendly
interface around when it comes to transparency between what you ask
for in the dialogues and what you get.

I imported again and that forced, don't ask me why, that forced the
01Jan08 folder down a level to under 2008, which is where it always
was when it came to the physical structure on the disk. It just took
Lightroom a few times to get it straight. Wierd stuff.
