In Chapel Hill, years ago, I had a friend who told the most exquisite,  
detailed, wondrous, and farfetched stories.

He told them for the truth. Occasionally he had third party support.

I loved the tales.

At some point in life I began to doubt they could all be true.

I worried about their veracity for a short period of time.

I soon realized that if I were too skeptical, the loss was mine.
