Filter size cannot be used to determine which version the lens is.  Series 
VII was used until about 1976, and earlier lenses may have been converted to 
E55 filter threads.  However if the lens has an orange 135 engraved next to 
the DOF scale the lens is certainly a later model using E55 filter threads.
