Hi Nathan,

Extraordinary document, you have very well catched a lot of timeless
moments, particulary of the childrens and of the "Costaleros", I'll
translate for the people who doesn't know these Spnaish traditions,
"Costaleros" are the men who are training the monuments. A great work with
very good colors.

I've shot too a good quantity of pictures in Barcelona, here the procession
is not big, in Barcelona live many immigrated people from Andalucia and it
was vibrating as it was there, with many "Saetas" singers, I want explain
also this word, a "saeta" is a song dedicated to the moments of the Passion,
there are normally traditional own songs by people that sang spontaneous,
the origin is on the Gypsies on the 15th or 16th Century that they lived out
the cities and this form was how they can say their religiosity.

Spanish Semana Santa is a big parade, a big show, but also very emoving when
it is on the authentical ambience of devotes. If you follow it, close to the
costaleros you can have a very different point of view as if you are "only"
an spectator. I'm sure that you Nathan, you have lived very vivid moments in
Sevilla, an impressive wonderful place with lovely people!

Thanks for showing this great stuff
Saludos cordiales
Luis

I went to see the Semana Santa celebrations on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
This is one of the most important events of the year in every Spanish city,
and Alicante is no exception. I shot around 400 pictures, and frankly had a
hard time editing them down to the 51 I chose for the gallery. In any event,
the results are here:

Just to pre-empt comments about the KKK-style hoods in some of the
processions: these traditions go back centuries and so precede the KKK.
According to what some friends in Seville once explained to me, the faces
are covered to symbolize that all are equal before God.

As always, comments are warmly welcome and appreciated. All images with the
E3, and either the 25mm 1.4 Leica/Panasonic (nighttime
shots) or the 12-60mm Olympus.
