When I use the focus chart I find the results are different from real  
like photos. If I build a test bed which is along the horizontal  
plane and the camera is at the same height as the test, I can move  
further away from the target to a more realistic distance. For a  
rangefinder camera it is more realistic to be 5, 6, 7 feet from the  
focus point. I got more accurate results. The test chart was  
developed for a SLR with a contrast detecting auto focus system. If  
it detects the contrast and sets the lens improperly it will have an  
error no matter what the distance. Not so with the rangefinder.

I hope I was able to be a little clearer. I had to do an awful lot of  
testing to come up with this opinion.
