My recollection is that Lange and Sohn was restarted with some financial and 
technical assistance from IWC. The Lange family recovered their factory 
facility after the wall came down. Certainly German watchmaker's are as good 
as the best from Switzerland. IWC was started by F. Jones (the American) to 
take advantage of lower salaries in Switzerland in 1868. IWC remains the 
only Swiss watchmaker to still offer a watchmaker's school.
