When I started in IT the ICL mainframe I learnt to program on had 256K 
of ferrite core memory.  The hard disks, known as EDS 60, held 60 
Megabytes of data on (I think) 8 platters that were about 15" in 
diameter. They weighed in at about 20lbs each IIRC.  Oh happy days!
