Subject: [Leica] ONT: prescient m8 exif

i have an off-brand lens with LTM to M adapter (a voigtlander 28/1.9)
which of course is uncoded, and most image info shows up as 0mm (uncoded),
but i was surprised that a few (less than
10%) of the images i took with the M8 actually correctly recorded "28mm"
as the focal length. this seems to be a totally intermittent phenomenon,
sometimes a series of images will have 0mm, then one will say 28mm, then
more 0mm.

i am mystified!

does the m8 perhaps use the viewfinder selector to make a guess? i
recall sun tam exploring this possibility in an LHSA Viewfinder article.

i'd be fascinated to hear if anyone else has seen this phenomenon?
