Try using the UVIR filters. That solves the purple problems.

The shutter was a bit of a surprise to me too - but the other way  
round. M8 feels like my DSLRs, but not as well balanced as the D3.  
M6...the release is so smooth I almost can't feel it. NOW I know why  
people say 1/2s handheld is possible...
