I got the GF-1 with the 20mm f1.8 lens. Time from flipping the switch on till you can take a photo is around 1 second, if not less. focus is quick and responsive. It has face recognition you can turn on or off and, this is cool, you can _set preferences on face focusing priority_ so you can say "if jimmy is in a photo with mary, always focus on jimmy, but focus on mary before you focus on strangers" -- how neat. size is smaller than an m3, & lighter. I ordered the external viewfinder but it's yet to arrive. my main peve at the moment is having to look at the LCD on the back, i want to mash it to my eye. the viewfinder also includes shutter speed / aperture info in it. the camera's easy to use in manual mode -- one wheel covers both shutter speed and aperture -- you press in on the wheel to switch back and forth -- not as nice as two wheels, but pretty nice nonetheless. it's got a pop-up flash, etc. etc. so far my impressions are very favorable. have a look at the photos. rock on. happy new year. kyle
