Such animosity. :) Thinking it is an overgrown iPhone would be to seriously
underestimate Jobs/Apple. The bigger screen allows for much more interesting
user interfaces to be designed. The base price ($500) brings it really close
to the price of a netbook. I bet a large number of potential netbook buyers
will switch to buy one of these overgrown iPhones.

Apple's support, when they have a store in your city, is way better than any
Windows machine manufacturer I've come across in recent years. No other
company can give me <3 hour repair turnaround with OEM parts when I go to
their store. Otherwise, it is uneven.

I am interested in the potential of the iPad as a very light weight photo
editor for traveling. We travel on our tandem (or hike) on our vacations.
Carrying a full sized laptop can get kind of heavy when climbing big hills
(or even not so big hills :). An iPad kit with everything probably could
weigh in at about 1Kg which is about 2 Kg less than my MacBook Pro + power
supply. Its cheaper too which means if I break it, I won't feel so bad.

Apple announced a camera connector kit (SD card reader & USB interface) for
the iPad which allows it to import photos. Now I just have to wait for the
S/W (Aperture, iPhoto, Lightroom, whatever) to become available. Checkout
the bottom of this page <http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/> for the connector
kit.

Regards,
Spencer
