The drive they sent me as warranty replacement had lots of hard errors. The drive that replaced the replacement drive still had hard errors. I mean really bad error. The replacement drives will not format properly if I tell it to write 0's to all blocks. I am not touching Seagate 3.5" drive for a while. Not worth the hassle. Their QA process sucks big time. Their 2.5" drive are suppose to be OK though older technology. Currently using Western Digital drives in my laptop and NAS. So far so good. All drives have some percentage failure. Some are just greater than others. Leo, make sure your backup drives are heavy. Harder to fall of the desk. Also consider using 2.5" drives which is designed to take more abuse (like falls).
